Fulwood is an area in Lancashire, England. It is the northern half of the unparished Preston district, and had a population of 28,535 in 2011. The area is divided into five wards, which are North, East, Central and South. It is the most populous of these wards, with the district seat of Preston being located in the South. Although the area is relatively new, there are still many people who are new to the area, and its growth continues to be noticeable.

In Fulwood, the population consists mainly of houses & some flats. This is typical of inner city neighbourhoods and poorer suburban settings. The census takes place every 10 years, so statistics may also include nearby streets and postcodes. More than 20% of the population is a student, which is higher than the average for Preston. However, the number of working students is higher than the percentage of students, making the area a good place to live if you are in the area.

The area has many local amenities, including a public library, pubs, and primary and secondary schools. The area is also home to the Queen’s Lancashire Regiment Museum. Major John Rouse Merriott Chard, the officer in charge of the British army’s forces at Rorke’s Drift in 1879, was a Fulwood resident from 1887 to 1892. He died at the age of 35, but his death in a car accident at Rorke’s Drift in the same year has made Fulwood one of the most visited towns in Lancashire.
