Freesat Installation & Repairs
More and more people are choosing to free to air TV. Along with the launch of Freeview came Freesat. If you are not sure what Freesat is, then let me explain. Freesat is a free to air satellite TV service which is provided through a combined effort from the BBC & ITV. These to heavyweights got together to supply the service via satellite, and not through terrestrial means. This demands that to view Freesat programs, a Freesat Installation is necessary, unless your property already has a working satellite dish installed for Sky TV. So to receive Freesat you will need a satellite dish, and a Freesat receiver set up in order to watch these programs. After the initial set up cost, there are no other cost & certainly no ongoing monthly cost, unlike Sky, Virgin or BT Vision.
Freesat Dish Installation
As pointed out, you need a satellite dish installed & a Freesat receiver to watch Freesat. When installing a Dish we will always attempt to install it in a discreet location, and when we run the cable, we always look for the least visible route. How much does a Freesat Installation Cost?
If you already have a Dish and cable running into your property, then so long as they’re working you’ll only need to buy a Freesat box, plug it in and go. However, if you are wanting to use a receiver that records and can pause live TV, then you’ll need twin cable running in. At DigiTec, we can run twin cable from an existing dish into your property.
So, typically, what will it cost for a Freesat Installation? We’ll we can only give an approximate answer to this as it does depend on whether it is single or twin cable being used (as twin cable will cost more), plus how much cable is being used to run from the satellite dish to the receiver, but on average the Freesat Installation Cost is approx £200 – £250. This doesn’t include the set top box cost.

If you are looking to leave sky & want to start using Freesat, then it maybe worth speaking to your provider, and asking Sky to put you on the Freesat from Sky package which requires a one time only cost of £20. There would be no need for a Freesat Installation, as you’ll have everything already in place, and once sky provide you with the Freesat from sky viewing card, then you’ll be able to watch Freesat through your sky box & dish without a subscription cost.
